Hypocrisy is the best policy

Honesty is what this world supposedly takes as "the best policy." However, nobody wants to be exposed of their wrong-doings or bad habits or their flaws... If honesty is the "best" policy, then why is it the least accepted policy? It should be dubbed to: "hypocrisy is the best policy"... And the truth is always bitter.
